Purolator International provides customs clearance services through Purolator’s own customs brokerage services for formal clearances. Purolator also offers customs clearance under the Courier Low Value Shipment (CLVS) program for qualifying low value shipments. Our team secures pre-approval for all U.S.-to-Canada shipments prior to dispatch. Our team manages the required documentation, helps classify goods with correct HS codes, and coordinates with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to minimize border delays. The main customs document required for importing goods from Canada to the U.S. is the commercial invoice or customs invoice. Additional documentation might be required depending on the type of commodity that is being shipped. Additional document may include a bill of lading, any applicable licenses or permits, a CUSMA/USMCA Certification of Origin. Effective August 2026, there is no de minimis threshold for shipments entering the United States. All shipments are subject to duties and taxes depending on country of origin, and the HS tariff code system.
