Purolator International President John Costanzo Appointed to the Long Island Regional Economic Development Council

JERICHO, NY – June 11, 2018 – Purolator International, the leading provider of cross-border logistics, is pleased to announce that its President, John Costanzo, was recently appointed by New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo to join the Long Island Regional Economic Development Council (LIREDC).

The LIREDC is one of ten Regional Councils founded by Gov. Cuomo in 2011 to develop long-term strategic growth plans for their New York regions.  Costanzo’s appointment was announced at the LIREDC meeting at Hofstra University on May 30.

“I’m honored to accept the appointment to the LIREDC, and join this group of influential Long Island leaders to help advise on our region’s economic development,” said Costanzo.  “This is important work that will strengthen Long Island’s communities, our business environment, and create new jobs for many years to come.”

Costanzo, who also serves on the board of the Long Island Association and the United Way of Long Island, is committed to helping drive economic development on Long Island, especially the growth of local manufacturing and exports.

In 2016, Costanzo launched the Purolator International Long Island Supply Chain Index, an annual survey of Long Island manufacturers’ business forecast for the six months ahead, to be used as an overall indicator of Long Island’s economic health.  To date, Purolator International has issued three surveys which have provided valuable data on the manufacturing industry to the region.

As the President of Purolator International for the past 17 years, Costanzo has established the company as a leader in cross border logistics.  Under his leadership, the company has expanded into 30 U.S. markets, doubled sales every five years, and significantly expanded its services portfolio.  Purolator International today has over 250 employees and serves diversified clients, from manufacturers and distributors to large chain retailers and companies specializing in e-commerce.

Costanzo has been personally recognized as a “Pro to Know” by Supply and Demand Chain Executive magazine for four consecutive years, and as “Outstanding CEO of the Year” by Long Island Business News. During his time as President, Purolator International has also been recognized by several industry organizations for excellence, being named as one of the “Top 100 3PLs” by Inbound Logistics magazine, awarded the “Quest for Quality” award in the 3PL category by Logistics Management magazine, recognized as a “Great Supply Chain Partner” by Supply Chain Brain, and honored as “Corporate Citizen of the Year” by Long Island Business News.
