Canada Border Services Agency and Other Government

It’s one acronym you don’t want to learn about the hard way. If your shipment gets caught up in the jurisdiction of an OGD (Other Government Department), a minor cross-border headache can become a painful migraine.

Although all shipping through the border is reviewed by the CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency), more than a dozen government agencies have jurisdiction and separate compliance requirements for certain classes of goods, ranging from firearms, vehicles, plants, food, and even live animals.

And with OGD and CBSA compliance mandates subject to frequent revision, it can be difficult for a shipper to know exactly what documentation and importprotocols are required.
