Gift Exemption for Duties and Taxes
Gifts are typically allowed to enter countries providing the gift value adheres to the threshold set fourth by the country. If the gift is above the allowed value for the country the gift may be subject to duties and taxes.
If shipping a gift please review the following requirements:
- Ensure the customs documentation is clearly marked gift with an accurate description of the commodity.
- Ensure the he total value of the shipment (gift) does not exceed the maximum value allowed by the country. For more specific information by country please visit the individual country's website.
- Depending on the country the shipment (gift) can only be shipped from one person to another person with no business involvement.
- If the commodity being shipped classified as a gift and regulated by the government exceptions may apply to the gift rule.
